Lupe Fiasco made waves this weekend when he offered his opinion about the “Black Panther” movie soundtrack. The soundtrack is being produced by Kendrick Lamar and TDE label boss Top Dawg.
Lupe took to Twitter to express the similarities between his “Drogas Lights” album artwork and Kendrick and Sza’s “All The Light” single artwork. “All The Lights” is the first single from “Black Panther’s” soundtrack.
“Even I admit this is a little too close for comfort…. damn now I guess I need a new album cover… thanx @TheBlackPanther,” said Lupe Fiasco. Lupe returned to Twitter on January 6 to express his opinions on Kendrick’s lyrical ability from his perspective.
“I’ll put it to you like this. K. Dot is not a top-tier lyricist to me and my standards when it comes to punchlines and bars. His overall lyrics are good, his stories phenomenal, but punchline entendre lyrically I don’t see it.” “I’ve never been destroyed. Also the only issue that the world thinks I have with K. Dot and I actually do is that I think his ‘Control’ verse was wack and super overhyped to be a verse claiming you are the best rapper. It was very weird. I was told it was just bait, but still,” expressed Lupe Fiasco while interacting with his Twitter followers.
Their both dope lyrical artists, but I don’t know if Hip Hop can handle a lyrical sparring war between Lupe and K. Dot. However, it’ll definitely be a battle worth watching.
